The First SPLISS World Conference took place on 13-14 november 2013 in Antwerp, Belgium.

The conference presented results of the SPLISS 2.0 study, plus a host of other presentations at the first Sports Policy factors Leading to International Sporting Success (SPLISS) conference.

The conference included keynote presentations, workshops for policy makers in Olympic and Paralympic sports, short research presentations and panel discussions.

Answers were presented regarding these questions:

  • How do other countries develop their high performance sport systems?

  • How much do they invest in elite sport?

  • How do nations prioritize their elite sport investment decisions?

  • What makes an elite sport policy effective and efficient?

  • Why do some countries win more medals than others?

  • Why would countries invest in elite sport?

  • How can nations improve their medal count?
